ASBOA is a self-regulating professional Association since 1993 and is governed under the Professions and Occupational Association Registration Act and the School Business Officials Regulation AR 37/2004.
Certified members of the Association may use the title "Certified School Business Official" and the abbreviations "CSBO" and C.S.B.O."

ASBOA is a professional Association dedicated to supporting our members and providing leadership in school business management.
Our MembersMembers of ASBOA are management oriented and serve in the Corporate, Financial and Business Services areas in the K-12 public education system of Alberta and North West Territories. The Association is structured in four (4) geographic zones which provide representation to the governing body. Membership in the Association is held by the individual and is on a voluntary basis.
The requirement for school jurisdictions to appoint a Secretary Treasurer exists in legislation (section 116 of the School Act). This is the most commonly recognized title for the position, but others may include:
Superintendent of Financial and Business Services, Treasurer, Corporate Secretary, Assistant Secretary Treasurer and Director of Financial Services, as well as personnel in other business functions such as Human Resources, Communications, Technology, Purchasing, Accountants, Controllers, Payroll, School Business Managers and Facilities/Transportation areas.
